i really appreciate your response Toby... I didn't fuel at all for my evening run - I drank a coconut water and that was it b/c I felt "full" from lunch - which was light that day - spinach, cottage cheese, some almonds - I definitely need to plan more. Thanks for your words of encouragement... WOW - ultras - I bow to your greatness!

Changing up your run routine will def impact your energy cycle. I'm curious to hear what you did for your pre-evening run fuel?

Doubling up runs was how I grew my weekly run mileage to train for ultras. I found it easier on my body to adapt to the fatigue of the mileage by breaking it up. I also take better care of myself and make healthier food choices during the day, knowing I had another running coming up.

Performance wise, I think I was half asleep during the morning run and a little more mentally alert with the evening run. And knowing the work will be done after the evening run usually had me kicking a little harder to finish it off.

Keep experimenting with it!

I'm with you... once I'm done with a workout, I shower, have a snack and phone it in for the day. I found doubling up to be really hard! It takes a lot of motivation to get in that 2nd workout when you already got one in!!! Whewee! You go girl! Oh, and as for the showering/shampooing, I read somewhere that we shouldn't even be shampooing every single day, so maybe if you shampoo after your morning run then you can just rinse and condition after your evening run? I dunno, just a thought! My hair doesn't get TOO nasty on a run so long as I'm not wearing a hat and it's not like 90 million degrees out!!! BTW, Sonal, I love your blog! Thank you for posting!!! :)
